Saturday, 6.11.2012 – Munich
We had a brief rehearsal with a local band Friday evening, as I wasn’t in too good a mood with the reviews of the last rehearsals before our concert (Red Elvises, Rock City Resort). Thankfully, it went well again, and now it was time to plan the gig more relaxed. Amazing how fast things go when you’re finally prepared and ready to go.
A big relief was the good news about the band of the night: After receiving the news, I was so excited to hear so many bands play together at once, and we had a headliner that turned out to be a great decision. The “home” band was an historically important band from Munich, an English group of all Elvis impersonators and Motown-tribute-bands.
They all play very well, and each with their own distinctive style and character. They’ve all covered James Brown, The Temptations, Ben E. King, Smokey Robinson and all his Hits, plus complete the full Motown-Legacy. Mostly as a contrast to the previous evening’s show, which featured no Motown, this night showed my #1 Top-Mashup.
For this night, we’ve changed the show somewhat. You can still expect some of the hits from that concert in Los Angeles, plus the hits from Motown. This time, JB and the boys aren’t playing “Ain’t No Love in the Heart of the City” in the middle of the show, but right at the start, they’ve launched into this version of the song.
There’s a lot of action on stage tonight, as the timing and tempo of the songs and the beat keep the crowd moving. My dad even got the Led Zeppelin-Sample that I’ve been trying to record, and he actually managed to get the sample in stereo for the first time; the panning is quite out, as they applied a wrong panning, and we suddenly felt a mighty stereo-war looming. It’s obvious that some of them are playing the frets with their fists, and we do show some Karate-Styles later on.
